Maruti was the first to bring the AMT or Automated Manual Transmission to our shores.
It is one of the most crucial model.
The dezire AMT is the first choice of carmaker.
It is the first Maruti and diesel model to come with an AMT gearbox.
Power is familier 1248 cc diesel engine, it delievers 74bhp and 19.37 kgm of torque, similar to it’s manual gearbox-equiped-car.
The Dezire AMT, however is a bit slower with 60 kph coming up in 5.40 sec. from standstill as opposed to the 5.18sec. on the manual car.
When driven normally in the automatic, the gearbox upshifts smoothly at around 2200rpm and the pause characteristic of most AMT boxes is not bad.
The shifts also appear to be smoother and the speed with which the gears engage manually
when you push on the lever seems to be quicker as well.
