All the information I share here on Maruti Esteem(Vxi) are no Exaggerations. Anybody who owns a Esteem may have similar opinion.
MARUTI CLAIMS TO GIVE CARS FOR LOW PRICE. REMEMBER QUALITY NEVER COMES FOR LOW PRICE.
1st things 1st.
Engine - It’s a 1.3 litre engine supposed to give more mileage in city and highways. But it’s not the fact. With bumper to bumber to traffic it gives just 10.53(Mileage calculated every time and averaged out). On a clean traffic you can expect 12. On highways it’ll give 15.5 to 15.7 definetly not more than that(I maintain a speed of 80 to 105 KMph. Cmon you cant drive less than that speed on a 4 lane NH4 or NH45 or NH5).
The engine really struggles to pull from stop, it will stutter if you release the clutch without pressing the accelerator pedal(which is required in heavy city traffic). for the chasis of the vehicle the engine is poorly tuned.
Chasis - The chasis is very very light so even a mild hit(say 5 kmph) will cause a heavy damage to bumpers(once again bumper is a pethatic plastic). Also the chasis is low lying so be careful with bigger speed breakers. It hurts a lot.
Interior - Interior is Inferior no comparison with other products it’s just plasticky and whack thu. Just see the interiors of Ford, Hyundai and Esteem you feel like thrashing Maruti. Many a times I’ve wondered whether the rear seat is for adults use. No decently built adult can sit in the rear seat(forget tall and well built).
Handling - One of the biggest threats in driving an esteem is Breaks. The breaks are really very pathetic. The distance to stop from a good speed is more. You need to pedal the break to floor to bring the vehicle to stop from a good speed.
The only advantage of having maruti is maruti dealers talk good about the car than anyone else.
