I recently bought a second-hand 1997 Esteem and am very pleased with the deal. Esteem seems to depreciate faster probably because people with more than 4 lakhs (upper class) would rather buy a new car than a second-hand car. I like its shockers that really give a smooth ride as compared to my drive in Santro, Matiz, Zen and 800. The gear shift too is quite nice and has the smallest motion. The pickup suffers and is not as good as the smaller cars. It is very stable at high speeds. The fuel efficiency is decent enough at 11 km/l. Seats are quite low so getting-in and getting-out isn’t that easy but the road view is good enough.
