Firstly I bought this vehicle because ours is a big family and we do all our outing together. We have been using it since 1997. every year we travel almost 10, 000 kms approximately. Till now the vehicle is in good shape. after all it is a suzuki vehicle and they dont give up that easily.
Best part of maruti is their service network. you can find a maruti authorised service station almost in any remote village. secondly the spare parts are not costly and are easily available anywhere. Now let me tell you that my vehicle has done almost 40, 000 kms and not even a single engine job has been done. the engine is in perfect condition although I might have tortured it many a times in mountains and ghats all over india.
we pack our vehicle with eight people including the driver, we load it with hell lot of luggage on top as well as the boot.
The handling of this vehicle is excellent. Average is approx between 13 to 15 km/ltr. in city and over 16 on highways with radial tyres.
You can stuff in as much luggage as you want in the rear if you remove both the rear seats. I remember that all my friend who have left india and who have returned india always needed my Omni since no other car can take the big luggage bags needed for international travel. so there is lots of savings on taxis also.
The only disadvantage of this vehicle is that there is no Air conditioner compatibility with this vehicle. Even if you put a custom built AC. it will not give you satisfactory cooling and at the same time burn your pocket on average. This is due to the heat generated by the engine which is right below your front seats.
Over all I would recommend it for a big family who have a decent budget, no special requirement for a AC, and want good reliability and handling. Also I would recommend you to replace the standard tyres with radial tyres since this makes the vehicle very secure and stable on turns and steep curves.
Although we have decided to book a TATA Indigo we are not going to sell our MARUTI OMNI-E.
Its like I said a VALUE FOR MONEY VEHICLE.
