Delightful Diesel Engine

My review is only about the diesel engine, many of us know Ritz uses the Award Winning FIAT’s Multijet engine in the name of DDiS, this engine is really superb it does not compromise power, pickup or torque.

Engine powers 75BHP@4000 rpm, and Torque 160 Nm @ 2000 RPM which is the Best engine configurations for small cars to ply on Indian road conditions with fantastic mileage.

Yes there is a little noise when you are in the cabin and this is most common for diesel engines and when you shift 4th or 5th gear it is rare to hear the noise levels in the cabin and you would feel that you are driving a petrol car. I can manage the city traffic conditions by using only 2nd and the 3rd gear at low speeds. When you start accelerating speed beyond 2000 rpm then Turbo kick off and pulls the car like mad, you can reach 0 to 100 kmph in 14 Sec which is amazingly equal to a petrol car pickup. No speed or power lag is reduced if you’re A/c is turned on like Tata Indica Diesel.

This CRDi diesel engines is much economical to maintain if you use synthetic oil then your service interval is once in 15, 000Km only. So far I have driven 5000Km out of which 1000Km in Long trip and remaining in the Chennai city. My City mileage is 15 to 16Kmpl and my Highway trip mileage is 21 to 22 Kmpl with Ac is on always.

I would definitely recommend this Diesel Engine which powers Swift, Ritz, Dzire, Palio, Punto, Linea, Indica Vista & Indica manza.
