Motors, the home grown carmaker, is under the process of launching the much awaited Tata Kite 5 compact sedan in the India. The car has been spied testing on Indian roads on various occasions and is expected to be launched in early 2017. The Tata Kite 5 is based on the Tata Tiago small hatchback. The new car is based on Tata Motors’ IMPACT Design Philosophy under the company’s Horizon Next product strategy. Being the first entry level compact sedan in its segment, the car virtually has no competition while it will lock horns with bigger competitors like the Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze and the likes. The Tata Kite 5 will be features loaded similar to the Tata Tiago small hatchback. Features list on the compact sedan will comprise of an 8-speaker audio system from Harman with support for USB and AUX-in, Bluetooth connectivity, three spoke multi-functional steering wheel, follow me home headlamps, power windows with one touch-down driver window and manual AC among others. Safety features on the car will include dual front airbags, anti-lock Braking system ( ABS) , along with Electronic Brake-force Distribution ( EBD) . The car will also get engine immobilizer, Speed Sensing Door Lock along with rear parking sensors.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is also features loaded and comes with a long list of features. The equipment list includes automatic climate control system, keyless engine start/stop button, height adjustable driver seat, electrically adjustable & retractable ORVMs, power windows with one touch-down driver window, Turn Indicators on ORVM, 6-speaker audio system with USB and AUX-in support, MID display and Bluetooth compatibility among others. Safety features on the Swift Dzire includes dual front airbags, anti-lock Braking system ( ABS) , along with Electronic Brake-force Distribution ( EBD) . The car also gets engine immobilizer, remote central locking, rear parking sensors along with speed sensing door lock.

The Tata Kite 5 compact sedan will be made available in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant will be powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron four cylinder petrol engine that is capable of pumping out 85 BHP of maximum power along with 114 Nm of peak torque while the diesel variant is powered by a 1.05-litre Revotorq three cylinder diesel engine that is tuned to produce 69 BHP of maximum power while developing 140 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines will transmit power to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission while the company is also expected to equip the Tata Kite 5 with a 5-speed AMT transmission.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire compact sedan is offered with a petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol variant will be powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series VVT four cylinder petrol engine that is capable of pumping out 84 BHP of maximum power along with 114 Nm of peak torque while the oil burner is powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS MultiJet four cylinder diesel engine that is tuned to deliver 74 BHP of maximum power along with 190 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are carried out by a 5-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front wheels. The petrol variant of the Swift Dzire comes equipped with a 4-speed CVT automatic transmission while the diesel variant gets a 5-speed AMT transmission.

The Tata Kite 5 compact sedan is expected to be priced in the range of INR 4 lakh for the base petrol variant while the top end diesel variant will be priced around INR 6 lakh ( ex-showroom Delhi) .
On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is priced in India in the range of INR 5.27 lakh for the base LXI petrol variant while the top end ZDI AMT diesel varaint is priced at INR 8.58 lakh ( ex-showroom Delhi) .

The Tata Kite 5 will be the entry level compact sedan from the home-grown carmaker and will be positioned below the Tata Zest. Technically, the car doesn’t have any direct competition but will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and the Ford Figo Aspire.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire has been around in the Indian car market for quite some time now and has been the bestselling car in the segment. The compact sedan competes against the likes of the Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest, Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire and the upcoming Tata Kite 5.

The Tata Kite 5 compact sedan is expected to be launched in India by early 2017, most probably in Q1 of next year. The Kite 5 will be one of the most important product for Tata Motors to strengthen its market positioning.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is already available in the country but the company is said to be working on the next generation model that will be based on the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift and is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2017.
