I think its a great buy for its price. I was looking at a suitable alternative to exchange my Maruti 800(an 11 year old car which hardly gave me any headaches) with. I wanted a more powerfull, luxurious and economical hatch suitable for city driving and soon boiled down to two a. Maruti Swift VDI b. Getz Prime CRDI. For Getz, it was the sheer 120 BHP that attracted me the most. But it looked heavily overpriced for what it offered. One could get a Swift VDI(with airbags and ABS) and install a state of the art Music System for that price. But Swift looked too cramped especially at the rear. Siiting at the back seat of swift is a real torture for big guys and there is hardly any boot space in the car. And because of these negatives I setlled on Getz Prime CRDI . till I got a chance to test drive swift dezire.
I wouldn’t say its the best car I have driven, but its pretty close to that. I went for the test drive in my accent(petrol) and the only thing that reminded me that I was driving a diesel was the slight thud at the time of starting and the’extra’ speed reqd to shift to fifth gear. The NVH was close to(if not better) than my accent(which ofcourse is very well maintained). The back seat is much more comfortable with the center arm rest and has a decent boot space. The milage they say is great and the best part is that it comes at a price comparable to the Getz Prime CRDI with a plethora of features(vdi comes with a mp3/cd player+ central locking etc .). Anyways I booked the car(to avoid further delays to the already huge waiting period).
