I read most of the reviews on this page and I thought I might just share a bit from my exp. I bought my Swift Vxiin 2005 Oct. The reason, I loved it for its power.Mind you that I booked 6 months before. My bad experience started with Mandovi Motors in Frazer town promising me that I would get my car in 45 days and then took 6 months after a struggle to get teh car. When I got my car I jus loved the looks. Neat car to be in. spacious for a family of 5 and not that very expensive as well.
But I felt to an extent, the quailty was far from being good. I wouldnt say that I have a lot of squeeky noises but I would agree that the quality is bad.
Now for those who praised the car for power. well its true that Swift is powerful. I have taken it to extremes at times. ripping on 1st gear at 60- 70kmph to check the power and have touched a max of 140 on the highway.but sad to say the 2nd gear is bad.every time I slow the car I need to change it to 1st gear which I don find a problem in other cars. Its a good car for those who are not worried about the mileage cos swift(petrol) will never I mean NEVER offer you more than 13 on city roads. on highways, it varies on the driver and the gear changing. but the reason why swift has this low mileage is its power and the defective 2 nd gear.
The comfort of the car is good. spacious for 4 and I would say even 5 can travel with peace. We travelled to Kerala and I never felt that we were suffocated for space. Spacious for teh price we pay atleast.
Regarding rattling of engines and other noises. The performance of car is firstly based on the company you buy it from. then the driver. if you can drive your car the right way then I don think you would ever have any problems. If you keep speeding teh car in 1st n 2nd gear having drags then you cant expect performance. thirdly. the service centres. its so important that you give it to centres who are authorised to service swifts. I read a review(no offence) that complanined that the service centre were not skilled enough to service a swift . In that case you need to take it to only the centre you bought the swift from and for those outstation guys find out centres who deal with the car sales as well. they have better service men. well not that I had a great experience with Mandovi service centre but I felt the difference when I got it serviced from UM cars. Mandovi was much better.
Overall. I will never complain about Swift cos one thing its my first car. I have been driving my dad’s 800, Chevy Spark but still I would rate this car to be one of the best among its segment.
The price for it is less may be thats y they don offer good quality interiors but for a 1.3L 87 BHP car.4.5lac is worth the buy. reason. My dad bought a Chevy Spark.1L 43 BHP for 4.2lac.the only good thing is the mileage and its compact to drive through easy traffic but my dad and all those who has see both cars will always praise the SWIFT.
Opinions may vary. This is just mine and if anyone ask me about Swift I will given them both.Good & Bad. The choice is theirs to buy.
