I just purchased my SWIFT ZXi in cool silky silver color from local Chandigarh dealer Joshi Auto Zone. The vehicle is absolute value for money viz a viz kind of features it has, like climate control, air bags, ABS with EBD, belt pretensioners with shoulder adjusters and host of other features like driver seat height adjustment, alongwith lot of smart spaces to carry nitty gritty things, cute little boot lamp, accessory socket in boot, sleek handy ashtray which fits anywhere in bottle holders (although I’m not going to use it because I’m a Sikh) and lastly but not leastly is the way the cabin light fades away after the vehicles is locked or started.
I find the car loaded with whole lot of safety features, which you can only find in the cars double the price of SWIFT, so Maruti, through active support of SUZUKI has changed its reputation of making unsafe cars species like Maruti 800 or Omni. SWIFT ZXI is safest CAR IN INDIA in its class and price range, now. I treat it a great value for money. But certain things are really strange and absurd on the part of MARUTI to miss in the top loaded model like ZXi, like no digital clock, door moldings, bumper protectors, finger guard, Mud Flaps, Mats etc. And certain design and fit problems like very small glove box, almost equal to MARUTI 800, Quality of Power Window/Central Locking buttons are not good, and very little boot space and baby of a rear parcel tray.
But when you compare serious safety features to the above deficiencies, these are just a brush off. Now a days roads are getting smoother , expressways are coming up vehicles are coming up with high average speeds and high pick-ups so one needs good safety features in the car to feel safe. So small features can lag behind in lieu of safety. Overall quite a VALUE FOR MONEY, and CAR for the future HATS OFF TO MARUTI AND SUZUKI .
Now 2 months has passed after I first drove my SWIFT ZXi, I’m extending/editing my review again. My vehicle has driven for 3000Kms and the run-in period is over now. I can seriosuly feel the pleasure in the engine now. The techometer is really extending its needle upwards and the car’s engine is getting smoother and more torque full. The fuel average is getting stabilized and the AC is superb from the day first. The ride is aweful , handling is OK ( I can get better handling with extra wider tyres at the expense of some ride quality), and overall quite satisfied with its performance. No real complaints except that my car’s tubeless tyre gets deflated with huge sharp metal chip and I left pumping the tyres with manual footpump which almost kills me.
Here I need to add certain things about ENGINE OIL, I’m using MOBIL SUPER 10W30 API grade SJ and ILSAC GF2, the latest recomendations by MARUTI peoples for MPFI cars. It is super OIL gives better fuel average, and can be driven upto 10, 000 km safely ( But I’m going to replace it after 8, 000 kms ). It is really important that what ENGINE oil you are using because in Petrol Cars only maintainance is regular replacement of ENGINE oil , Gera oil and Coolant. Other tahn Engine Oil the quality of fuel must be clean so I recomends 93 octane or above or your SWIFTs. Because it cleans fuel injectors and entire fuel system. And most of it, it can marginally increase your fuel average too.
