Hi guys, I have been using variety of cars since 2001. My first car was Maruti 800 1995 model then I switched to Santro LE(December 2002), then again Maruti 800 in 2005 then Alto Lxi in 2006. My last car Alto Lxi was a good car to drive and that made me fond of Maruti cars.
I booked Swift Dzire Vxi on 30th Marchy, 2008 and waited till 24th April 2008 for the delivery(in Delhi). My dearler informed me that Maruti is making very few Petrol Dzire and I may have to wait for another 2 months for delivery.
Since I wanted a car on 25th April, 2008(on my 35th Birth day), I started looking for various options viz i10 & Getz. Although I have soft corner for Spark(ever since Matiz was in India), I didn’t consider since I m of the opinion that Chevrolet car is not good on resale part. I didn’t even consider any other car(except of Hyundai) for the same reason.
I have driven i10 Magna twice and found the car exceptionally good. its 1.1 ltr engine is extremely good and AC is very effective. It is also a good car to drive in City. Why I didn’t go for i10 is its Beige interior. It is too beige and it gives trouble to eyes. However, Guys believe me it is a very-very good car to drive and I am sure fuel efficiency of i10 should be better than of Santro(could be close to Alto).
Now, coming to Swift. Swift was never my favourite car as I was amongst the first few customers who test drive the car when it was launched in India. My brother wanted to buy a car and we test drive Swift and found that it is nearly as spacious as Santro, but price difference is slight high.
But then why I have chosen Swift now? Swift is now a better looking car compare to the one launched two years back. We already have a Santro therefore was not keen to have one more.
I bought Swift Lxi on 25.4.2008 in white colour in Delhi. I had no options as it was the only colour and model readily available to the dealer on that day. Here is the review based on my findings:-
Look: It is a different looking car therefore people would surely have different opinion from one to anothher. I feel it is a nice looking car but from my I don’t like it at all even with new tail light.
Space: Front seats are very spacious and for the one who owned an Alto, it is like a heaven to sit on driving seat. Leg space in rear seat is very good(pls guys don’t compare it with Indica, Getz etc.). Every car has some qualities and disadvantages. Leg room in rear seat is good even for a guy who is 6 ft. (i myself is 6.1 ft height) and I found it reasonably good. Three good size / weight people can sit very comfortably in this car in rear seat. I am not concerned about boot space as I hardly require it. However, it is not good for those who wants to go out with reasonably good luggage.
Engine: 1.3 ltr engine is very responsive. I have driven the car in AC ever since I bought it and pick up is very good. in my Alto one of the problem that I faced was frequent gear shifting in City whereas in Swift I was able to drive the car(with AC) in 3rd gear even at speed of 20km.
AC: Very effective infact so effective that currently(Delhi has temp. of 41 degree) I don’t need to put it on 2nd number blower speed(i drive in morning from 7.45am to 9.00am & in evening I drive from 6.00pm to 8.00pm). I have driven during mid day when the heat is at its best, I was very comfortable in blower speed of 2.
Fuel Efficiency: I have driven 359 kms as of now. I filled petrol full fuel the day I got delivery of the car and today I filled the petrol again. The day I got delivery of the car it was already run 38 kms and when I filled the petrol it was 40kms. Today I filled 24.73 ltr petrol(power) therefore the fuel efficiency comes out to I guess 12.89 kmpl with AC on every time I drove the car. Guys pls let me know is it a good fuel efficiency. I drive on very low traffic in the morning and slightly high traffic in the evening. I drive 30 km in the morning and same km in the evening.
Sum-up: Overall it is a good car to drive and me, along with my family, loves this car in such a short time of owning it.
