Hi, I bought the much acclaimed Maruti Suzuki Swift In march 2008. Till Now I have driven the car 40070 Kms(as on 6th May 2009) and had the car serviced for the sixth time. I have an experience of around 1.7 lacs Kms of driving with swift being my second car and the first one being Indigo diesel. Needless to say that I fell in love with Maruti Suzuki Swift as soon as I put the car in the slot of first gear and took my foot off the clutch pedal; it was just flying off like a rocket once you take it beyond a RPM of 2K. I took half a KM further drive signed a cheque and there I took the car to my home, definitely after a lot of wait. The driveability is the not only advantage to this car but it is a great car in terms of mileage, the car now a days returns back 24-26 Kpl on highways(constant speeds of 70-80) with AC on all the way.
Lately I started suffering some problems which tell me clearly that whether its TATA Motors engineers or its Maruti Engineers they are the same when they have to tackle with a customer problem- “All apathetic”. I started seeing this indicator on my control panel after which I took the car to DD motors wazirpur(this is where I get my car serviced always), which on initial inspection my supervisor told me is a minor fault and he repaired it with the help of the ECM control/communication instrument(@ 25000 Kms). I returned back without thinking much about it, the third day it reappeared and I went again; this day they had my car flushed(for a charge), and changed a small pipe that used to deliver air form/to intercooler(for Free). The indicator vanished and I was happy. A few days later(@ 2600Kms) I started hearing an additional rattling sound from the car when the clutch was engaged during the idleing, and it went away when I depressed the clutch pedal. I reported and was shooed away with an excuse that this is normal, but after checking other cars I found that the noise was not normal. I went again and the same logic was given to me that the noise is normal. After a lot of pushing and finally complaining to the GM works at DD motors they checked it thoroughly and said that the clutch set needs to be changed(@ 35000 Kms under warranty). After change the clutch was like a new car. It was my freshened baby, but with in 4000 Kms it started rattling again. More over this time the previous indicator turned on again. This time I requested to see a Maruti engineer(Mr. Iqbal) who even though agreed about the indicator problem but told me that the rattling sound from the clutch is a normal thing and this happens with every car(6 May 2009), but I am not convinced till date. On asking further he said that this sound comes because of the ageing of the car and has noting to do with the cluch(But I do not understand why does the car not age when the cluch pedal is depressed and does the car age at 40, 000 kms and only after 4000 kms of chage of clutch. I heard such a sound in my indigo only after it had completed 80000 Kms, and I had to go for a clutch set change after that.
Hey many of you must be having swift Diesel cars, kindly guide me about this trouble:
1) Do you also hear such a sound and such a sound vanishes when the clutch pedal is depressed?(Please do it in silent environs along with the raised windowpanes)
2) Why don’t we hear such a sound in the cars which are as young as 5000 Kms?
In fact on talking to one insider(on condition of anonymity) I got to learn that for the sake of cost cutting Maruti seems to have reduced the quality of spare parts and the kind of torque that this car produces cant be handled by the current quality of clutch that is being currently supplied.
HOPING FOR YOUR REPLIES SOON.
