Hi people!
Test drove the Swift a few days ago and it dint feel really great to drive. The quality of the interior is appalling. The plastic they have used seems to be weaker than a tiffin box. The horn is so weak that one of the guys who came to test drive the car with me commented ’’isse to makkhi bhi nahi hatega’’. Also the JK Tyres dont inspire any confidence since most cars in the league offer Good Years, Bridgestone etc. But the car does have looks and people do turn their head to see what you are driving. If you are young at heart and would like a car in which you could blare your music system to the loudest and try to impress women at Carter Road, this car is perfect. But if you have a pragmatic approach, then please consider otherwise. For a car with an old Esteem engine, cheap quality and only looks to ride on, is Rs 4-5 lakh really worth it?
On the other hand people could consider the Palio, Fusion, Getz and Corsa Sail. All these cars seem to have a better feel, better quality and seem to be way more refined. But they may not get a second look. Finally, I suggest that people dont blindly go and book the Swift because they might feel as disappointed as me with the folks at Maruti. I thought it would be one company that would not treat the Indian market as a backwater, but with the current avtaar of the Swift they have done just that. I dont think I shall ever own a Maruti again in my life especially when better options are available in the market.
