I got my red VXI on OCT 23RD .I like my car very much, as it has pros of 1690 MM of space equal to HONDA CITY, 17 Kmpl of mileage on highways, features of electric windows , 14 inch high profile tyres, wider tread than FIESTA, huge road stability&unbeatable service from MARUTI. AS, i’m previously the owner of ZEN, I dont wish to go for class smaller ALTO, 800 naturally.I decided to look on a car having good road grip, decent mileage with equivalent comfort, accomodating three at rear comfortably, bigger engined than my old ZEN.At first, I test droveWAGONR, SANTRO.though the dynamics, comfort and smoothness lied inSANTRO, i noticed the features on offer are lessthanWAGONR, seating three at rear too was made with compromise.
I deleted them.Then came the classes of BALENO, IKON, ESTEEM through my friends advice and aftertaking a test drive, i observed ikon is a bit faster and smoother than esteem.But both were dated and ikon is not fuel efficient.I’ve almost decided to order baleno lxi which seemed better&reachable with 67000/-price cut.But , as it is going to be discontinued in december, i made a backstep.The next entered vehicle are INDICA, GETZ.
When I took INDICAXETA, I thought that this was a good family car with 1.4ltr engine, wider space, price equal to alto, its a decent car.But, on the terms of reliability, fuelefficiency, low cost of maintanance its purely against. AAH!!GETZ!! I found specifications were paper writings, in practical , it is better than zen with good legroom than SWIFT, but not seating width, THATSALL.I my self got the idea of swift and rushed for test drive .YEAH!! its a feeling of driving my own car, very very homely and comfortable.my friend too suggested me this as a suited one.the silent cabin, light power steering, smooth graring system, powerful A/C, rich looking dashboard and interiors convinced me very much.Just like in a volvo A/C bus.
I also noticed the cons of lesser leg room at rear, small boot .My friend suggested me to prefer zxi, but vxi seemed to be just simply superb& I ordered it and been delivered within two days.After a one and half month usage, the problems of front door rattlings, right side front tyres were sounding at speeds were expirienced upto 1000kms.Went for first servicing and problems were rectified completely.Till now, no problems with it doing 2700 kms and enjoying the mileage of 13 kmpl with A/C, 17kmpl on highways.there is nothing problem in swift regarding mileage.The indian car survey reported was 12-13 in cities and 16-17 on highways defnitly. I request the SWIFT owners, buyers to follow the tips stated below to make their swifts fuel efficient .they are ;(1). always maintain recommended tyre pressure checking atleast once a month.The recommended tyre pressures for swift lxi, vxi is 33psi front and rear and for zxi 29psi.
(2).Avoid idling the engine on red lights, switch off engine if signal waiting is more than a minute.
(3).Shift down to lower gears at low speeds avoiding accellarating in same gear.(4).Shift to 5th gear as soon as possible when vehicle crosses 40kmph, the suggested speeds are (GEAR/KMPH), 1-2 /10, 2-3/20-25 , 3-4/30-35, 4-5/40-45 .
(5).If the cabin temperature gets cool on a/c, step down to 2nd level .
(6).dont drive in a half clutch mode
.(7).Drive smoothly and steadily at 60-70 kmph it makes pleasant and fuel efficient.
(8).Shift to neutral when the accellaration is off.
(9).Keep air filter clean, you can clean it your self through vaccum machine.
(10). Sudden braking and accellarating high in a hurry burry mode should be strictly avoided, it makes 2kmpl less. SWIFT fuel efficiency stagnates at a particular figure after 3000 kms run.I strictly followed the above stated and shown these true figures.SO!!you too apply the same and enjoy the true mileage figures.I’m also giving the details of how to calculate mileage correctly?.To calculate mileage the best adoptable method was TANKFULL TO TANKFULL method, as follows 1.Fill the tank fully.2.
Run the vehicle upto 1/4 th of tank capacity(80-90kms), 3.Return to the same filling station and again fill the tank fully, 4.Divide kms run/fuel filled.SO!my dear friends please follow these tips and enjoy your mileage and make your car healthy one s.I suggest this car for the family of five on 450000/-budget vxi is best, for 550000/- budget the zxi .
