I bought my first car Swift VXI this week. I know its too early to write a review, but initial impressions are initial impressions. So here it comes.
I had lot of confusion regarding the car. thought of Ikon or a swift. But had to give up on ikon, as it did not fit my parking space.
So finally I decided on the Swift, because of MUL’s reliability and vast service network. Moreover, Swift is a good hatch back.
I read reviews on swift about the pickup dropping with A./C on , when on 2nd and 3rd gear. Initially I had the same feeling, but I got used to it after driving it for a couple of times. But yes, the pickup is not so great on 2nd and 3rd gears. You will definitely feel the drag.
Dont know about the fuel economy as it had been just a couple of days, will post the FE as soon as I find out.
The space inside is good.
handling the car is really easy with the EPS. Brakes are good too. I dont have ABS on my car but still they work well. I wanted to go for ABS model, but I felt we dont really need ABS in city driving. I hope I will not have to regret about my decision not to go for ABS.
That’s it for now. But hey, I want some one to suggest me a good Music system for swift. Also I want to change my wheels to alloy wheels. Any suggestions are welcome.

June 12th 2006:- Hello everyone, am back with more stuff. Firstly am really thrilled with the power steering of swift. Awesome handling. Its precise. I had gone for a long drive last sunday. Did a max speed of 110kmph for a while, but then remembered some reviews where they wrote not to exceed certain speed limits until the first service, so I took off my heavy boot. When cruising on the highways, the car is really good. Only bad thing is the third gear. I feel the car is not moving when on third gear, even though the accelerator is on full throttle. I dunno if its a problem in my car or a general problem in swift. When I asked the dealer, he told me this would be fixed after the first service. Have to wait till then.
I got my music system installed on 10th june. It is a sony xplod with front speakers 170W x 2. Rear 400W x 2 and a 1000W subwoofer. The amp is a Sony too. Now my car rocks ;)

June 18th 2006:- Hey all. Am back. Yesterday I was out on a total of 328 KMs drive in my swift. This drive included a ghat section of about 40 kms. It took 21 ltrs of fuel for the entire drive. The AC was on all the time. So lets get down to the calculation. 328/21 = 15.62 KMPL. This is very good FE. I hope this goes up after the first service.
And coming to the performance, it was awesome. Speed, handling were really good. Did a top speed of 120. This car is a great pleasure to drive . I also spent some time in the rear seat while my friend was driving. It is spacious in the rear seat too.
And the performance drop which I mentioned earlier, looks like its fading away. Especially on the highways, I did not feel the lag. Ok. Will post more soon.
