Maruti Suzuki Swift

If one has to describe this car in one sentence it is ’’ Best value for money ’’

I say this from my personal experience as my experience with this car has been excellent. The aspects I liked about the car are:

1. Excellent engine performance - just the optimum power and good mileage about 14Km to a litre in city driving conditions that too before the 1st service. This may improve after some running.

Clarification: The odometer now reads 1137 Km. At the time of delivery the reading was 25Km. I have so far filled 77litres of petrol. At the time of taking delivery the dealer is supposed to have filled 5 litres ( the meter was showing almost zero ). 1137/(77+5) = 14 (nearly)

1. Cute look and good colours to select from ( Eight at present ) Also the colour I have chosen as per my personal liking i.e., garnet orange is a dual shade one i.e., te colour appears in two shades depending on the angle of the incident light.

   
   




2. Spacious interiors - even the rear seats have ample leg space provision. Also one need not crawl into the car while getting in.

   
   




3. Model VXi comes with tubeless tyres and other features like central locking, power steering etc. etc.,

   
   

Clarification: Some readers have commented that VXi does not come with tubeless tyres. This is not so as I have experienced a puncture in the front right tyre and have seen it getting repaired at the tyre dealer. Yes the wheels are not alloy wheels but seem to be cast wheels. Some reader has said that central locking is not provided in VXi model. As I do own a VXi I can confirm that central locking is provided - yes key-less entry is not provided as a standard feature of VXi.

1. Performance of driving over pot holes and speed breakers is excellent. It appears to be designed to glide over poor roads and the improved performance is clearly perceptible even when you compare with the previous models of MARUTI or any other small car. This appears to be due to relatively wide wheel base, relatively larger tyres and good suspension.

Now for some negative points noticed by me:

1. With the air conditioner on, the acceleration possible is not too good.

   
   




2. Finish of the black plastic parts like the door handle is poor.
