To Start with, I got my car in 15 days. Yes! 15 days flat. booked it on the 9th of November and got delivery on the 24th of Nov. Oki, details, its Metallic Silky Silver coloured, Zxi is the variant.
TO cut a long story short, its an awesome car. The Zxi with wider tyres actually handles corners better than the Lxi n Vxi variants with narrower tyres which I took a test drive of. I like I like.
My overall mileage was 13kmpl in the first 1000 kms and there after, I got the car serviced and havent checked mileage. I say, for a car that performs reasonably well compared to cars with similar engine size like Getz, palio, its a very well powered car. There is a trick to getting this car to scamper like a scalded cat, keep the revs high and it will show you what can it can do, thoroughly that too. And taking the car out into crowded streets is a breeze with very little shifting to be done, can drive around all day in 3rd gear. and the sporty shifter is something I can keep talking about forever. Seats are really comfy, though the rear is a tad bit softer than I would like but its not much of an issue when i’m gonna be doing most of the driving myself. Height adjustment is gr8, i’m not happy that they havent even offered leather steering option in Zxi model :( . I bought a Kenwood KDC-MP3029 HU as well from the dealer which is MGA though the speakers from Kenwood can do with better performance at higher volumes. Luggage space is decent enough to carry at least 10days of packing in softbags for 3 -4 people, not practical but then its a hot hatch, cant be compared to bigger cars. Gets is better at space management yes, but I dont like the way it drives and handles, the shifter especially is spongy and the steering vague. The sharp steering response (EPS) and rally based suspension on the Swift eggs one to push the car a little further and it doesnt disappoint.
I found the safety and comfort features the best among the class of vehicles at a price which is not only competitive but very affordable. Even the new Honda City ZX does not come with the features, like ABS, EBD, Airbag, Climate Control...these features start from the elantra which costs more than 10 lac. big car but then a hyundai is a hyundai. :P
The amount of gadgetry and computer controlled components in the car are really in the toyota and skoda league with sensors of various kinds. One grouse though, maruti over the years has made no efforts to make the engine bay look neat and tidy, gone are the days when you saw a whole bunch of wires popping out from every nook and corner. very ugly sight. The best engine bay i’ve seen till date is the Skoda’s even the Indica’s engine bay is neater than any maruti.
