The looks reminds me of the beetle, the hind is a bit flat bottomed though. Looks best in when dressed in red. It moves are supple- takes the jive and foxtrot with ease and elan only if you could ignore its inner wear. Even a minimalist would have a look and feel that speak sophistication. The Swift lacks this in very good measure. Even the door lock clam is left unpolished, wonder what it would have cost them to just powder coat it? Cheap plastic and upholstery gives a dowdy feeling. The inside door handle (molded into the interior of the door) when pulled the rear door shut giving a feeling that the whole assembly would come off. Eye for detail seems missing. They urgently need to employ the services of a good housekeeper. The sale staff of Maruti Udyog dealers have always been very functionary in their approach, they don’t seem to sell the feature/functionality of a car as much as they sell the price and of-course the finance company.
tailpiece: I visited the Maruthi Chowgule showroom (Goa, India) and was reading the price board in their lobby, its took ten minutes for a sales person (girl) comeout of the glassed customer enclousre to greet us and offer help. And what was the first question she asked? Which car do you want? I said ’I don’t want any car, I have come to find out which car I would want to buy? I don’t see a Baleno around!’. ’Oh, you want to buy a Baleno-please step in’ was the reply. :) Bhai, kya chaiye palak, methi, aloo, tamatar... got the idea!
