Swift ddis
The swift is a devil of a performance car in its class… Nodoubt Its instant appeal when you zoom it in the city traffic overtaking is such a ease and the car seems to rev up and definitely makes good driveablity.
Engine(9/10): Relative small diesel engine of 1300cc which ropes in reasonable power of 75bhp and very torquey… I guess the Ikon is the only other car in the midsegment which appears so driver friendly. The Turbo seems to set in after 50km/hr and hence overtaking in highways is definitely rocking . Lag is not evident though and hence it quiet suggests that you have a well refined war horse under your control as you drive
Performance(9/10): It’s a performance diesel but you are amazed when the cars hits such high speeds with so much ease and still throbs to perform. The car is eager as you rev up and turns out a pretty decent fuel efficiency averaging between 16 to 19km/ltrs with a/c on 100% of the time . A/c fortunately does not under power the car .The A/c is pretty cool and the circular vents on the sides is quiet handy to adjust air flow to the driver .
Gears and steering(8/10): The gearbox seems just perfect the ratios make it for a smoother transmission and the short sporty gear lever is a pleasure to use as it is notchy and perfectly located. The gear ratios are neatly designed for driveablity in city . The steering has a good feel and the EPS is just perfect probably best suited probably to the higher engine weight. The steering feels light and nimble . However a tilt steering is missing which otherwise seems to be a must in this vehicle especially you feel the necessity in long drives.
Ride and Handling(7.10): Handling is terrific but I guess at the expense of ride. Ride at slow speeds is a rawdeal. The car bumps and hits the potholes with such big thuds and makes you feel very uncomfortable. However the vehicle has no complains at higher speeds and the handling is just perfect .
Space and Comfort(8/10): Space inside the car is decent and can squeeze the fifth passenger with considerable ease. The boot may be of concern but then You cant ask anything better with a hatchback. The front bucket seats are quite big and provides good under thigh support Shoulder space is ample and makes well enough for a comfortable ride
Styling(9/10): The Dark ambience has a nice touch and the overall style is attractive.
The car has all the ingredients to make the owner proud .If only can make in roads with the cars shortcomings especially on the ride front the car can be classified just perfect midsize hatch to own. Added plus would be the Maruti service backup and overall customer satisfaction with low cost of spares
The car has a few niggles like the rattles and squeaks but then this is one Maruti car that owners would love to have inspite of its shortcomings Rating(8/10)
