After months of waiting and periodic googling regarding this car, I finally went and test drove one yesterday as there just was not enough information anywhere.
The car looks huge from the outside from whichever angle you look at it. This is probably caused by the huge ground clearance that this car is offering(190mm as per the brochure). The ZXi variant also has massive tyres like the Innova. This is likely to improve the road grip but could lead to lower mileage. No official or unofficial facts are available regarding the mileage for this car. We will have to wait till we get a road test from a magazine or auto show but my guess is it is likely to be around 10KM in city driving and not more than 15 in highway. This is almost equal to what the Corolla provides.
The front has a nice touch to it while the rear is quite plain. The insides are quite a disappointment. After being hyped as the tallest, widest and largest, it is only about as big as that of a Fiesta(probably slightly bigger) except that it is probably a few centimeters taller. Rear leg room is just sufficient when the front seat is pushed all the way back. Rear seat is also quite narrow and three people will definitely find it a tight squeeze. I feel that Suzuki has made a poor design considering the overall bulk of the car.
The boot is huge: more than 500 litres as per the dealer(Verna and Fiesta are in the 400Litre range).
But the fact is that the car is loaded with features: ABS with EBD, in dash CD player with MP3. Audio controls on the steering wheel, dual Airbags, 16" alloys, .
The car is also not really inexpensive as hyped. The lowest version of the petrol Verna retails at almost the same price as the Vxi variant and the features are not all that different.
In all another decent mid size option but not a car that you have to buy as made out earlier. Do a thorough study of all the mid size options available and make the right decision.
