Only good for a small family in city drive

This car is actually not belongs to me. it is of my colleague and often I accompany him on the way to our office. he is using it for around 3 years. as sometimes I also drive it, I have a good look at it. sharing my experience on his WagonR.

The vehicle looks like mini SUV. It looks better from the backside than the front. Definitely looks are not impressive.

Interiors: Interiors are not made with good quality of plastic but they are acceptable. There are storage places everywhere i.e. Below glove box, below steering column. These are handy to keep mobiles, sunglasses or small things. Two bottle holders, a cup holder, huge door pockets on all four doors are also very useful.

Rear legroom is less and troubles tall persons but as the seats are upright one doesn’t feel shortage. Headroom is huge. the car has rear folding and reclining seats with which u can create huge space to carry anything.

Engine: Engine is smooth and sufficient power to carry four adults and there luggage with ease. but if you are in a hilly area, you will find engine don’t have the pull to go up. AC needs to be turned off while climbing or getting speed from standstill. Recently we traveled 219 kms in 11.8 liters of petrol with 60-70 kmph speed. In city it returns about 12-13 kmpl.

Suspension: Rear occupants have to face harsh ride on rough roads. also will feel body roll on corners. At front life is more easy. However till today suspension setup needed no maintenance so far.

Comfort: Getting in or out is very easy and a boon for old aged/ handicapped persons. Rear seat is very uncomfortable in Wagon R, the distance between the seat and floor is very less. This will make you sit in a very uncomfortable posture which will hurt your back on a long drive. I have driven it for 350 kms in a day comfortably. Driving position is very good. Driver gets good view of the road. However due to thick pillar, one has to see through quarter glass at corners. Front power windows are there but not at the rear. Mirrors are not internally adjustable is another minus point (Maruti has rectified it in the newer model) Rear defogger is available but no rear wash and wipe. Remote central locking is a plus.

Overall: Vehicle is very reliable. Needs very low maintenance. Battery of his vehicle is working fine at the end of 3rd year. Maruti has service stations almost at everywhere. Servicing maintenance cost is also low. what I must say is that it is a good car for small family in city.
