For the benefit of readers, based on experience and discussions with MUL engineers..
Odometer reading 3000km, one free service and one free checkup (from Maruti) later..
1.The fuel consumption has settled to 11-12kmpl (city) and 16kmpl (highway), on LPG, always in Auto mode, AC as and when required. Running cost -( city ) Rs.1.92/km (best), Rs.2.25/km(average).
It is safer to fill the LPG tank after running 250km. The green LEDs indicate approx. 5-6 litres of LPG. When all green LEDs go off and only the orange LED is on, the tank is less than half full - "reserve".
Auto mode - Orange LED blinking - Engine starts on petrol, and the LPG solenoid switches on when engine exceeds 2000 rpm - Orange LED stops blinking.

This is my first car, 5 days old, run 225km with AC on, Auto mode in Pune.
Overall, a very simple to drive vehicle, quite comfortable for a small family..
I filled up both the fuel tanks on the first day. Cost me Rs.310 and one hour in the queue for 11ltrs of LPG( tank full), and another Rs.500 and 20 minutes for petrol.
After 120km of city driving, the LPG level indicator LEDs started switching off. The rate at which it switched from 3 to 1 was really alarming. Here I was, on old Pune-Mumbai highway, with only the amber LED lit up, and absolutely no idea about how much fuel I had in my tank, wondering what would happen if I came to a sudden halt because of an empty fuel tank on the highway..
Anyway, I filled up LPG on my way back home, without any problems. This time I could fill Rs.475 worth of LPG (16.8 ltrs, tank full) with a trip meter reading of 172km (tank full to tank full).
My calculations - Rs.2.77 per km / 10.2 km/lit of LPG.Hopefully the cost per km will go down further after the first service.
