I am happy.

Since I was going to buy my first car I did a lot of research for finding a suitable car which will fulfill all my needs. I finally zeroed on Wagon R Duo Lxi, Midnight Black. My car is now two months old and I am done with my first service.

My observations with the car are as follows -

  1. The looks of the new Wagon R is stunning though many people find it box shaped. I just love the looks; by the way, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

  2. The interiors are useful but are made up of cheap plastic, Maruti should improve the quality.

  3. Boot space is enough for city driving, but if you are planning out of city weekend drive there is not much space to carry luggage because of the spare tyre in the boot.

  4. There is no provision to fix a flexible rear tray, you have to fix it with a screw & clamp.

  5. The sound while starting the car is not very pleasant to hear, don’t know why!!!

  6. Gear shift is not at all smooth specially 1-2&R, 3-4-5 is smooth. Even after telling about it to the service advisor during my first service, he could not do anything about it. I think this problem is an inherent problem with all Wagon R.

  7. In case of a jolt/jerk while driving over pot-holes smell of gas used to come, I got this problem fixed during my first service.

  8. LPG drive with five people and a/c on in slope feels little underpowered. Other than this particular condition you wont feel any difference at all, driving is really very smooth.

  9. Before my first service I used to get a mileage of 10.5 km/lit of LPG. After first service I am getting 13 km/lit of LPG. I have not driven much in petrol so cannot give the mileage. By the way LPG costs Rs. 26.37 per litre.

Bottom-line: If you drive regularly in city and is budget conscious, this is the best car. Since there is no use buying a car and cribbing about the fuel bill incurred while buying petrol and finally driving it only once in a while.
