As all wud do I did a lot of research before buying this car in nov 2007.
The one factor that clinched the deal was LPG. also I wanted to drive one of the tall cars like santro n wagon. I went for the passion red color.
I must say that the body is not of too gud quality, very sensitive to dust etc. in a big city u r bound to get some nudges, compared to other cars its much more visible in this car.
The LPG factor is not that great. The car pick up is little lesser when running on lpg. But the engine is silent even then . cost wise the mileage is much lesser on lpg so overall u really dont get much savings from running on lpg. I use petrol nowadays. the interiors cud have been better. after buying the car u have to almost buy every other accesory this despite this car being on the expensive front.
I must admit that this vehocle is very stable. its very comfortable on the road. The gear is not smooth, I drove santro recently it was too smooth.
Lets not be too negative about the car though . this car does well in traffic it may llok big but eases thro traffic easily. At high speeds also this car is very stable n comfortable. Then comes in the maruthi factor, their cars have done in inda over the years. They kinda know how the indians road are and the vehicles are gud in the long run. There are service centers everywhere man.
So dont fall into this due to lpg theres not much advantage just take it if u like maruti(trust factor), n if u like these kinda cars. Looking at it from another side, you always do have the option to refuel using gas if the pocket is tight, be it however small amount u still savings, this cascades and may become a considerable amount. Just be aware its not that huge a saving upfront since u anyway are paying some money extra and then buying the LPG variant . So u actually start saving when u have recovered the extra cost! im trying to give u a pratical picture which I missed when I enquired earlier.
