I’m an owner of Wagon R Duo for last 1 month; completed
around 700 KM (just got the first servicing done yesterday). This is my first
car (so expect lot of enthusiasm from me in this review!)
I had read all previous reviews on this vehicle at mouth
shut and was prepared for the issues mentioned by other users. This gives some
kind of mental satisfaction that I’m not the first one to face the problems.
The following are some of my experiences.
Pros:
The vehicle ROCKS. With petrol it just flies on the road. The LPG power is
little less but very much manageable on city roads (specially in Bangalore). I went
for a hill driving (Nandi hill) last weekend where I could see the vehicle
was dragging with LPG, but switching over the petrol solved the problem. The power
steering and brakes are too good. The vehicle remains in full control all
the time. Even at the stiff/sharp hair pin turns at Nandi Hill I didn’t
face any issue (being a new driver also). The AC
is super cool. Switching it on gives quick comfort in direct sun too. Yes
with LPG and A/C on the power is little lesser, but this is expected.
Cons:
Initially
my major issue was(partially is) the gear shift problem. The major problem
I faced in 3rd->2nd or 3rd->1st.
The shifting is very touch, also it seem to gets stuck in between. The
reverse gear also has similar issue. This has improved a lot after first
servicing. As per the other people who owned the vehicle and also as per
other reviews this is a legacy issue with Wagon R from the introduction
itself. But I think once you are used to the vehicle you won’t feel it to
be a major problemThe
LPG cylinder capacity indicator is useless. It fluctuates very frequently.
So you know you are nearing a refill but you never know by how much. When
the indicator goes to the last
amber light I went for a refill couple of times, but it fills upto max
13-14 kgs. The confusion becomes more as the Wagon R manual says never
make the LPG tank fully empty. The
dickey space is much less with the LPG tank there. There
is almost no offer from dealer on WagonR LPG. They are ready to give ~15K
discounts on Petrol version. This makes the Duo look even more costlier
than the Petrol variant
I’ll add my experience more. Mail me if you need some
specific information. I bought the vehicle from Bimal Whitefield Bangalore. I
found them to be good and professional. There was no problem at servicing too.
The on road price was ~4.4L. I went for couple of accessories and the final
price was ~ 4.75L.
