Cottage On Wheels

The Wagon-R was launched with a lot of fanfare as being the best selling car in Japan and I really had a lot of expectations from the car. When it was finally launched in India it didn’t really take off as imagined. The sales charts did not show spectacular vertical growth but was rather consistently creeping upwards. Now the wagon-R is finally doing justice to its capabilities by selling in respectable numbers.

One of the reasons which works to its advantage as well s its disadvantage is the <tall boy> design.Though it makes it look like a cottage on wheels it is mighty practical. And like a cottage it is-roomy and airy. There is always a sense of space in the wagon-R, lot of cubby holes to keep everything from cassettes, CDs to cups. The dashboard is a nice shade of grey and the steering is cute too.It is easy to get in and out of the car and the seats too are really comfortable.a unique feature of the seats is that they can be made flat all the way down to provide a set of double beds.(Now you dont have to worry about hotel bookings in the peak season). The seat fabric is good too and the A/C is decent.

The exterior is something else with the aerodynamics making elder brother Versa proud (and thats not a good thing) but fear not it corners well even with spirited driving but my advice is dont be too adventurous. The engine is pretty strong too pulling even with a full load.Overall a good buy for a family of four.
