After 2 months of research and trying out Zen, Santro, Corsa Sail, I finally bought the WagonR LXi in February 2004 from Competent Automobiles, New Delhi. Excellent customer services, no hassles, no waiting period. Easily got a loan from ICICI and car was delivered 2 days before the promised date.
The first thing that made me buy this car (Wagon?) was the space. It could carry almost all sorts of knick knacks. Being a person who likes to take the car everywhere, space was definitely a plus point that attracted me to this car.
I had taken my 10 day old car to Agra from New Delhi. It was a breeze and I got a efficiency of 19.3 Kmpl (4 people) with 30-35% AC on the new Agra Highway. I touched 120 Kmph. I donno why people say that it becomes unstable after it touches 100!
In city driving was a pleasure because of the good electronic power steering. In fact the power steering was so smooth, I had visited Competent querying whether this was normal. In the city I get 13-14 Kmpl with 60-70% AC.
Overtaking small cars, like Santro and Zen are childs play. Recently I had shifted my job from Pune to Bangalore. Guess what? Instead of taking a flight. I drove my baby to Bangalore from Pune (912 Kms). I started at 6 am from Pune and reached Yeshwantpur (outskirts of Bangalore) at 7pm. We (driver) had stopped 3 times for food and refreshments. Got an average of 19.1 kmpl with 30% AC and stable speeds of around 100Kmph. Overtaking is also easy, I overtook City, Ikon and guess what a Skoda ;-)
Till date I have visited the service station only thrice (for free services). My car has done 15K this week. No rattling sounds, AC working excellent, not much wear and tear on tyres, still no extra paisa spent on any thing except regular filters and engine oils.
Good driving position and road view makes you be in control. Turning radius is very good.(thanks to the powerful steering)
