I bought the Wagon R LX in Oct 03. the buying experience was good as there is a lot of comepetition among the dealers in Delhi so you can strike a good deal. I managed to get an overall discount of about 25000 , although I could have got more but as soon as the dealer came to know that I went to another dealer to ’’shop around’’, the dealer asked me to get the delivery that very day althought the finance and other formalities would have taken another couple of days.
Till date it has run 16500 km and it has been very satisfactory in running. The looks although are boxy but people have started to acknowledge that even that design can be attractive and thats the reason that you may see a lots of Santros and Wagon Rs on the roads.
Coming back to the looks of the car, the outside body is not that strong. as anybody will agree that you cannot sit on the bonnet of any Maruti car like the way you can do on a TATA SUMO. Interiors are good with lots of space created for small requirements like the coin holders, the can holders , the door pockets on all the four doors etc.
One setback is the leg space on the rear seat and also it is difficult for 3 adults to sit on the back sie so the car is ideally for a small family.
The ride is also good.. although I would agree with my friends that the gear when shifting to the 1st , you mat end up punching the co-driver, gear shift can be a bit tricky sometimes especially going to the 3rd and the Reverse gear. the engine is quite silent and I could just hear a low grunt of the engine when I was cruising at the speed of 120 kmph on the NH1 towards Chandigarh.
The fuel eficiency is the best in its class I would say.. I have managed to get a mileage of 14-15 in the city and 17-18 on the highway... deduct a couple of kms per litre in case you have the AC on in full.
I have driven it in the city traffic of Delhi and Gurgaon and have ben to Chandigarh, Kasauli, jaipur, Rishikesh on this and there has been no problems till date.
I would say this car is a great buy if you are looking at a family car with a good mileage and of course the great service network.
Just would like to add about the service that the maruti people have called me severl times after the sale and after every service to know if everything is going fine, sometimes this can be irritatig also, but that is highly appreciated.
