Purchased the wagon r lxi in aug 2001, the dealer VIP automobiles, mumbai gave me a harrowing time but the car itself was amazing being my first car, I was really excited
the car was much better than I ever dreamt, amazingly comfortable interiors, powrful ac, great dashboard, plenty of space to keep stuff, the interiors were mind blowing for a lower end car. the tall boy look gives it a feeling of space
the performance of the car is amazing, power steering gives it great control, amazing pickup for a small car, very responsive breaks - the car has great pickup much better than other small cars (except maybe the alto) - on the highway the car comfortably hits 100 - the mumbai pune expressway the car was very stable at 120-125 - this was a surprise since since reviews say that the car is unstable beyond 100 - guess the instability is due to the roads rather than the car
the built quality and doors give a feeling of security that other small cars like the zen cannot come close to
thanks to the high clearing it is very easy to enter the car - my tallest and fattest of friends (6’2, 117 kg) sits comfortably!!!!!! I really find it difficult to get into other cars
the car itself is so comfy that on days I have driven it over 200 KMs in city traffic!!!!
of course the car looks ugly but hey I can’t see the exteriors while I am enjoying the drive
really glad I chose the car when all my friends were against it and instead were prodding me to buy a santro..........
the car outperforms the zen and the santro but costs substantially less - totally a VFM car!!! and with a auth dealer network like marutis, one can take it for long drives in exotic locations without any fear, can’t say the same for the santro.............
oh yeah one thing I totally forgot in my review is the gears - absolutely a nightmare - first start driving the card and you end up with cramps because of the effort you put in to shift gears - the suspensions are a bit hard - the other negative is the positioning of the AC unit and the noise the blower makes - guess everything has some negatives............. all in all a great package for the price
