I purchased a Wagon R Lxi in Aug 2007. Since then I have been driving this car and I have the experience of driving this car for about 10000 Kms. After having the said experience I have reached on conclusion about the following pros and cons of this car.
The points in favours of Wagon R LXI are :-
1) Ample Roof Space. This car is having roof at good height .
2)Effective EPS: The Electronic Power steering of Wagon r is very Effective...better than Santro and i10.
3) Fuel Average :of wagon R is good, effective and economical i.e. around 14kms/ltr in city (80% AC) and around 16kms/ltr withAC not used and around 17-18 kms/ltrs on Highways ie better when compared to santro, i10.
4)Powerful Brakes: Its brakes are effective, powerful and give instant effect.
5)Fast Pickup: the car gives u effective Pickup (63 ps) which is better than Santro.
7)Very powerful AC: Much powerful AC in the Scortchy Delhi Summer.
The following factors are derived which are against the performance of this car:
1) GEAR PROBLEM :In the initial stage, I found that the Reverse and First gears were very hard. The matter was referred to the DD Motors Wazirpur. DD Motors physically inspected the gears of the car and I was advised by them that the gears will function smoothly after driving the car for about 5000 to 6000 Kms. I may know like to highlight to the public as well as to the Maruti Co. that the the said gears are still not so smooth as they should be.
2)Poor Suspension: In spite of my driving the said car for about 10000 Kms in Delhi on a route where the condition of the roads are excellent, it is found that the shock absorbers and suspensions of Wagon R are of poor quality and while driving I feel bumpy ride and low comfort. Further while driving the car at the speed of about 80 to 90 Kms the said car start giving the cabin noise including the Engine Noise.
3)Poor build Quality: The body of the car which is manufactured of sheet metal is so light that it picks up dents while just touching it..
4)AXLE problem :After driving the car for about 8000 Kms, both the axles were found out of order. The matter was referred to the DD Motors Wazirpur. Thanks
God that the DD Motors replaced the both AXLE as there was provision for replacement by the Maruti due to manufactured defedcts already detected by the Company in about one Lakh cars.
5)Small tyres and Rims: In Wagon-R LXI the Company has used the Rims in the size of 13 inch with tyre tread width of 145 mm which is very unsuitable size and found discriminatory as comp[aring the Wagon R VXI version. The company should have provided the tyres in the size of 165 mm Width. The company should have provided the lyres of Bridgestone instead of using the lyres of JK and Appollo Tyres.
6) Poor Interiors: Maruti is using low quality dashboard and poor interior fabrics which gives black is appearance in the interior of the car wherein comparing with Hyundai i-10 whose interior is found to be splendid..
.The car may prove excellent in case the Company removes the said lacunae.
