Vital Statistics

Name: Wagon R LX

Colour: Cool Silver

Model: May 2001

Odometer Reading: 22, 000 Kms

Mileage:

  • 15 kms in city (without the AC on), 14 kms with the AC on

  • 16 kms on average on the highway

Maximum recorded mileage:

19.5 kmpl - From Bangalore to Chennai (5 adults) with intermittent AC usage

Punchline: This car WOW’s

Rating: Best Small car in India

Positives: Wagon R has the best headroom, best legroom and the best bodyroom in the driver cabin in the entire small car segment (why small car any car segment for that matter) in India. No other car gives as much comfort to the driver as a Wagon R.

Comfort Zones:

Driver’s Cabin - You can get into the car and get out easily and you can sit in the driver’s seat as though you are sitting on your comfort chair at home. And in the sitting position, the gear lever, the steering wheel and all the controls are accessible to you as though they were designed for you.

Boot space - Large enough to seat two kids or stack several large (long) luggage bags.

Intimidates:

At the outset the car may seem a little intimidating with space all around you. Believe me, soon you’ll start liking it and will enjoy the freedom you experience by sitting in.

Back Space:

With a bench seat at the back you can seat 3 or more, since nobody needs to bend to fit themselves in.

Weaknesses?:

I agree that the back seat legroom is not adequate. But that’s a small compromise you need to make to reap all the fantastic benefits of driving a Wagon R.
