Practical Family Car

Once discarded for bad looks, Wagon R is gaining now because of its unique looks which are like a SUV. I bought this car in Spet 2003 after weighing it against Indica, Palio & Santro and I am happy that I made correct decision. Since then I have no problems whatsoever with the vehicle. I have covered 17000 kms and have driven it everywhere one may come across, be it city, highway, country, hills, jungles, etc. Vehicle is sturdy and stays calm at all terrains. I have clocked 135 kmph with 4 adults, 1 kid & luggage (of course on GT Road between Jalandhar & Ludhiana). I have taken 2 long trips one measuring 2500 kms, from Lucknow - Delhi - Shimla - Dehradoon - Mussoorie - Haridwar - Jim Corbett National Park - Lucknow and another 5500 kms from Lucknow - Delhi - Jammu - Delhi - Jammu - Delhi - Lucknow. Efficiency was best of 20 kmpl & worst 13 kmpl and average around 18 kmpl, good for 1100 cc engine and scores above Santros and Indicas and Palios. Vehicle is stable at all speeds, even beyond 100 kmph. One should take care at high speed sharp turns. AC of the car though bit noisy at full throw, is superb, during the month of June, I had to run it at its minimum throw and then also switch off for couple of minutes. It becomes chilled inside. Overall exterior view is excellent. Driver seat could be raised a bit for more confident driving. ’C’ column in RH front of driver side gives a blank spot in sharp turns. Gears are not so good, specially the reverse gear. Cabin is spacious. I find this car best suited for highway driving, but city driving is not bad either. I think I have achieved everything anybody expects from a car.
