Maruti is planning to replace it's old engines

As fars as the small cars (M800, Alto, Wagon-R, Estio) from Maruti, they have a very reliable engine which is the work horse for so many years.  It must be noted that all these carers have the same Engine design.  The only difference between them is the number of cylinders.  Alto has three cylinders and Wagon-R/Estio has four cylinders.  But all these cylinders of same design.

So the engine version of all these cars are same and it is called as F-Series engines.  Where as SWIFT and ESTEEM use a different engine version and they are called as G-series engines.  Now, the existing F series engines are getting out dated and Maruti is planning to replace them with a different engine version called as K-Series engines.

The K-series engines are considered to be more fuel efficient, more refined and conforms to EURO-IV emisson norms.  Also, it will have more power. I think this engines will be fitted to the cars in 2008.   Let’s see how those new engines fare against the well refined Epsilon engines from Santro.  But we know that SUZUKI is the best when it comes for small car engines.
