Its being more than 5 pleasurable years driving my buddy Maruti Zen Vxi. So I guess now its time to write something about my buddy.
We upgraded from a Maruti 800 to a Zen Vxi in Year 2003. Initially I was very much furious by my father’s move to buy Zen, as I wanted to buy Ford Icon (as it was a 3 Box Design). But frankly speaking I am very happy with my Zen. I have had an absolutely trouble free experience with it for last 5 yrs, 80000 kms.
Starting with, its a good hatch back car, with a really good design. The design of the car is such that its pleasurable ride even in terrible city traffic conditions. The small compact design is best for parking in city conditions where we have to park the vehicle in very cramped space. Mileage is excellent, as its light weight. I get around 14 in city and 18 on the highway.
Looks wise I like my Zen (old version), I personally don’t like New Zen Estillo. Engine is adequately powered for its size. In the city driving conditions, its decent enough. But only I hate when AC is on, actually that time I feel it’s underpowered. But I felt it’s a very well refined engine.
Some of the Pro’s:Good Design, Nice looks Engine is good and reliable Maintenance cost is less Cheaper Spares cost. Also availability is also good everywhere... Resale Value. Our previous Maruti vehicles were sold at really handsome cost. Comfortable AC Nice and quiet car (engine sound is less) Best for City driving. Value for Money
Con’s:Interiors (plastic components needs improvement) Cramped spacing (Leg Room is less for Rear Seating) Lack of power when on Expressway with AC on.
Overall I love my Zen and I will always recommend it. Now you won’t get it new, but off course you will get the old one as a resale and that too I will recommend.
