I tried Mastey Pure Colorcare Moisture Shampoo and Daily Conditioner last year when the line came out (All Colorcare products contain sunscreen to prevent color fading). As with most things Mastey I was thrilled with them (I use Traite and Frehair from the classic line), the scent, texture, how they made my hair look and feel.
So, I decided to order some of the Mastey Pure Colorcare Lock Down Leave-in Conditioner/Color Protector. From the get go I was surprised because this product is clear which is unusual for a conditioner. The texture is a bit watery, not thick and creamy like one might expect.
The scent is very nice, however, it doesn’t smell like the rest of the Colorcare line which has an outstanding scent. I washed, conditioned and towel dried my hair before applying the Lock Down Leave-in. Unfortunately it didn’t detangle my hair very well at all.
My hair is a bit dry and color treated and tends to tangle easily. It made drying and styling quite difficult for my short-medium length hair. Deciding I could not use this product I gave it to a family member with rather short hair and they simply love it. They use it sort of like a styler and think it is just amazing. It is absolutely full of wonderful ingredients, vitamins, protein, NMF, sunscreen, etc. I think it is better suited for those with shorter hair that perhaps don’t have to do a lot of brushing/combing to style and dry their hair.
