Good Comedy Movie

It is the story of three protagonists (college buddies who suddenly met after long time to one another and decide to add some fun to their lives).

Have a look at views on marriage:

Vivek Oberoi married to Amrita Rao - ’Man is incomplete till he is married. Then he is finished!’,

Ritesh Deshmukh married to Genalia D’Souza- ’The full form of wife is Without Information Fighting Everyday’,

Aftaab Shivdasani married to Tara Sharma- ’Everyone should get married. After all happiness is not the only thing in life!’

The film revolves around the three men and their hunt for women. Anyone interested in an extra-marital affair with one or all three? Monica (Lara Dutta) enters the lives of these three bored-to-death married guys and changes their lives forever. But, each is fooled into believing that he is the only man in her life. It is too late when they discover the truth and all they can then do is regret their urge to have an extra-marital fling.

Well, there is a twist in the tale, which does take people by surprise. But the long sermon on marriage and fidelity towards the climax is enough to bore the most faithful spouse to death.

The film tends to drag in the last half hour. And why a song in the midst of some suspense sequences in the film? The first half is breezy and full of double-meaning and vulgar dialogues. Some of the visuals are vulgar too but is sure to be lapped up by the frontbenchers as humour.

On the flip side, Masti can boast of some genuinely funny scenes. Like for instance, the scene where the three guys are standing on a balcony parapet to escape being noticed by inspector Makarand (Ajay Devgan), who brings in some semblance of normalcy into the film.

There are a couple of fast paced songs and even a wet number picturized on Lara and Vivek. Also the gay angle looks like an inspiration from ’Kal Ho Na Ho’. The guys could have done with some good dress sense. Their outfits look horrendous. They could have had better hair stylists too.

Now for the performances. Of the three lust-struck guys, Aftaab seems to be very much at ease. Vivek too seems to be in sync with his character. Surprisingly, Ritesh carries off his slightly dumb character well. Archana Puran Singh as the WWF mother-in-law is hilarious although over the top at times. Of the three girls, Amrita Rao has the longest role. She is very endearing. Ditto for Genelia. Unfortunately Tara Sharma seems to have tried her best but lacks screen presence. Was her voice dubbed? There is something definitely wrong there. Lara suits the role of Monica. Ajay seems like a relief.
