Now that its a Big Tourist Attraction, I did not find it that attractive. To reach there without personal vehicle, one has to change two trains from Pune, to travel cheap, and then book a Toy Train Ticket from Neral to Matheran which is always over crowded and said that the Toy Train is slow as turtle taking 2+ hours or otherwise rent a taxi to reach up in 15 mins and walk. There are no vehicles allowed once you enter Matheran, only Scheduled Toy Train, Mules and your legs work to travel inside. The sand is all red and the rotate your eyes anywhere from left to right, you see only greenery, it is so pleasant for that reason to be there. Alongside the way, you find vendors selling allMangos, Tamrinds, Zizyphus(ber), Ice cream, Vadapav, etc, which doesnt remind you that you are walking miles inside. You just walk and walk, talk, laughs, fun and complete being to theEcho point", n all sorts of points of that the sightseeing. There is an area where gardens and shopping stalls are there, which is the Last Stop on theToy Train, further from there you have all those Points. There are hotels but very expensive other than MTDC cottages. It is a Safe place until you decide to be too close to the edge of the cliff and fall down and die.
OK, You should visit at least Once
