Firstly writing after ages at Mouthshut and though have been planning to pen down my experience at matherans Hope Hall hotel or should I say a quaint family home... I’ve finally sat down to do just that!
I visited Matheran in Feb and stayed at this beautiful place called Hope hall... I always look into booking the places I usually travel to so was a bit unsure about this place coz my friends had booked it. But thankfully, my stay was marvellous.
We were 6 of us drove down to Neral station and walked a lot form there to matheran station. A long walk with breaks for snaps, raw mangoes and lime juices. Cant forget to mention, the beloved annoying crazy monkeys who were all the time waiting to snatch anything and everything from our hands.
We reached matheran station and in 5 minutes Hope Hall, the place we would reside for 2 days. Greeted by a dog barking and two other doggies that came around us... and walked away satisfied. I guess they were checking us out ... and we passed their test. I was tired and we were quickly shown our rooms. Big, yellow rooms and CLEAN.. Which is most imp to me!
Minimalist yet gorgeous...
We headed for breakfast and trust me, I rate it among the best breakfasts I’ve ever had.
They only serve breakfast here and I made the most out of it
chocolate milkshake.
Egg fry (omelette) with cheese
now what I didn’t ask for was crushed pepper on the fried scrambled egg which proved to be sensational.
This was my breakfast for the two days I stayed there and trust me it was amazing...
The lady of the house, is beautiful and talented and a total animal lover.
She’s got the most amazing cats I’ ever seen and takes amazing care of them.
Here, you can sit with a book, relax and read it... the only disturbance will be the monkeys.
Once they realise you have nothing to give them to eat.. They’ll go in search of a better bakra .. so go back and read ur novel.
Food is available at dhabass around.
We had ordered food from shabbirs dhaba and it was spicy but damn neat
no one comes to disturb you, so u can play music and chill out.
Got some good memories of the stay with countless photographs and good company.
Just that I had fever on my second night so could not enjoy the place..
Away form the madness Mumbai provides... go ahead and have a blast with nature by ur side!
Naomi.
