Its an amazing place to be in if you want to get out of the city noise and traffic and yet would like to slog it out at a jungle rather than sleep in a cozy hotel room. Its complete ban on vehicles is a definite add on. We found the locals to be extremely caring and laidback, which comes naturally being a Pahari!
Although I wouldn’t rate the sightseeing points very highly, but its the trekking that takes the cake away! As they say, its the journey that matters more than the destination. And what better if you have your closest buddies accompanying you in your journey!
I along with my 3 best buddies(we had met after a gap of 2 years!) had started to Matheran from Pune without much of planning! And we are glad for that. Would recommend the place where we stayed, ’Redwood Resort’ for its sheer charm. And food. And reasonable pricing.
We are glad that we chose Matheran as our first buddy outing together and are now very sure that this is the first of many to come!
