Took Matrix SIM to UK, Was happy as got on network as soon as landed at heathrow airtport. But thats all. As soon as I reached hotel, I realized many £5 SIM with £5 talk time was available as pre-paid SIM. with almost 2/3 local rate, and 1/20 of Matrix india calling rate.
Over and above this, I used to receive horoscope SMS everyday, which I had never subscribed. When I saw my first bill. I noticed those SMS was charged at 22p per day, around £6 monthly. When I tried contacting their customer care, they told such service was opted by you so you need to pay. Even though I never opted for such service. I kept on telling, you can’t charge for service I never opted, they are making money by such practice. But their customer service people just used to cut and paste the template answer.
And that not the end, the exchange rate always used to at least 3-4% more than market exchange rate. remember you get charged in INR.
Would suggest never get in to their trap, Generally they target you at VFS office, please keep away from there marketing people.
You can get lot of pre-paid SIM in UK with much lower rate.
