Though I am more than satisfied with my vodafone connection ( I have been a postpaid customer since 2002 when it was known as orange in mumbai) inspite of its slightly higher rates, the situation is drastically different on international roaming.
Its exorbitant to stay the least. the local calls in US are 70 Rs a minute, international calls (that is calls to India) 155 Rs a minute, incoming 90 Rs a minute and SMSes 15 Rs each. Its almost like the initial days of new telecom era in India though even then the local and incoming rate were lower.
That is a lot of money hence when I went to US recently I decided to a take a pre activated Matrix local US Sim. the difference was drastic to say the least. I paid just 43 rs for calls to india , and just 12 rs. for local calls and incoming. My advice to anybody traveling abroad esp. US take a Matrix sim to save loads of money
