Service was OK but their billing system and Customer care is not up to the mark. You might use Matrix for conveniences sake but you can find much better deals in the foreign country, once you land there. Use their service but remember to keep the paper copy of their bills for 2-3 years.
Following is my experience with Matrix Cellular Services:
I travelled to London two years back. I registered wit Matrix and they have provided me a T-Mobile SIM that was local SIM for UK. I used the SIM for two months, cleared my dues and returned back the T-Mobile SIM to Matrix representative. I was charged from my Credit Card in INR.
After some odd 20 months, I received a polite call from Matrix and the lady told me that there is some Rs. 3000 due on me. I told her, “this can never be the case and why they are waking up after such a long period.” For next few months, there was no follow-up to that call. One month back, I again received a call from Matrix and the caller told me same story and I reverted with the same reply.
Again, there was no further follow-up. Some 15 days back, I received one email from Matrix, asking for clearing my dues. So far the story goes like this…
I will keep you posted with further updates.
So my learning from this incident is as follows:
Anybody can get the same SIM that Matrix provides from the country that you are travelling to. Just do some window shopping for few hours in some local market. I bet, you will easily get a much better deal than Matrix because they are simply earning commission on the local SIMs.
So, the simple funda of purchasing anything is to first do some window shopping, take some time to compare the product with competition and then make the informed decision. Sometime we do not follow these fundamentals and fall prey to the companies like Matrix. And you believe me must, Matrix-like companies are here there and every-where.
