Matrix - Free minutes to India were a big rip-off

I took a Matrix student connection for Australia two years back. I had attended the pre-departure seminar of IDP in Mumbai before going to Australia and that’s where I came across the representative of Matrix. I was promised a certain number of free minutes(I think about 30 minutes)  to India. However I was billed heavily for these "free" minutes in the first billing. I tried calling up Matrix several times to try to get a refund and was told at least ten times that the money would be refunded in the next bill, but I would wait to check the next bill every month without the refund coming through.

Connectivity was also pathetic, and I could not get through to local numbers easily. I would use it in emergency to call India. Finally I decided to cut my losses and terminate the connection. No amount of follow-up helped. Till today, I have not got my money back.  I can only thank them that they did not ask to return the Sim card as that would have cost me a bomb in courier charges.

Two years later matrix is upto the same tricks. They just want to make a quick buck. Nowadays you see huge one-page ads in the paper. You know how they made their money from. Rip-off an unsuspecting customer. avoid matrix like the plague.

Best option is a local connection.
