Hi,
I am back to MS after a long time, and what a topic to write a review on - one of the greatest movies of all time - The Matrix Revolutions.
The first two parts created enough of suspense and questions that I was compelled to see this movie - first day first show. And I cant explain the feeling when the movie started - adrenalin just started flowing in my body and I was thrilled to see my self among the epic war between machines and mankind.
I will not repeat the story or will not consume space by writing synopsis, because anyone who has seen first two parts must have seen this one as well by now. (If he/she has not seen it yet then I wonder how he/she is able to live!!) OK so I will just write what I liked in it - I liked everything. - The action sequences, the acting, the horrifying battle between sentinels and Armored Personal Units, and above all the climax between Neo and Smith. The movie has everything and Wachowski brothers have made sure that it is remembered for a long time.
The movie however fails to answer few of the questions raised by earlier parts, and raises few of its own in the end. One never knows on whose side the Oracle was. In the end it seems like it was some kind of programming competition between the Oracle and the Architect, which made poor humans bali ka bakara. For the first time in my life I have read and thought so much for a film. Anybody who wishes to experience the Matrix, I will advice them to read the script of the films after watching the film and then watch the film again. This is very much essential to understand architects heavy, prolonged dialogs and Neos verbal tennis with Oracle! Revolutions though has less of these and more of eye candy. So even if someone has not missed out of earlier parts can at least cherish the spine chilling battles.
The entire Matrix Trilogy series blends two opposite poles - Science and mythology/philosophy especially the Indian or Hindu mythology. The concept of Matrix is similar to that of Maya - simulation, The Indian family of Rama, Kamala and Sati, they talk of Karma - everyone has a purpose, and ultimately the Gayatri Mantra at the end of the film. (Some people are also seeing Neo as Jesus - the savior). But there are many questions left unanswered - perhaps thats the trick of Hollywood films, so they can make one more sequel. Fortunately there wont be any for some time now.
So at the end why should one watch this movie? For two reasons - entertainment and some food for brain. Yes the movies are heavy to understand at first go. It requires careful watching of movie, listening of each dialog and deep thinking on each scene. And at the end you can come to many conclusions like me, and can keep thinking about it till you start seeing binary code all around you.
Everything that has a beginning has an end - so I stop this review here - now logoff and get the tickets for Matrix Revolutions.
