A nice place to learn life

I sincerely thank S for giving me this opportunity to write on my own college, my alma-matur, Maulana Azad College of Technology.

Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (Deemed University), came into existence as Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT) as a result of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru’s decision of making esteemed institutes called as RECs in India. It was established in the year 1960. Prior to becoming one of the NITs, it was the REC of Madhya Pradesh.

Educational Facilities

MANIT has one of the largest area among the educational institutes in India. Spread over 757 acres, MANIT has lush green landscapes with plenty of trees and plants.

As far as the educational facilities are concerned, it has around 260 hectares of academic block.

MANIT has world class labs, with its Senior Machine Lab and Computer Centre being the largest in India.

It is also the home for Energy Centre, a sophesticated laboratory built with Russian collaboration.

MANIt also has a lot of clubs like ISTE and Drishtant (Literary Association) which add to the professional development of a student.

The teachers here are well educated and have been the authors of a lot of journals and technical papers. Some of the professors here have books published on their names.

Other Recreational Facilities

MANIT aims at the complete development of an individual. Thus apart from the educaional facilities, it offers you other recreational facilities.

MANIT has a huge audiorium with a seating capacity of more than 1000 person. It hosts a lot of events in a year including TechnoSearch (A National Level Technical Symposium) and MAFFICK (College’s yearly cultural week).

The gymnasium of MANIT is a class of its own. It has all the facilities required to make it world class. College canteen with all kind of dishes, accompany the gymnasium.

It also has 2 Cricket grounds, One Football Stadium, One Hockey Stadium, One Volleyball court, three tennis courts, badminton court, TT and lot of other sports facilities.

Educational Programmes

MANIT provides B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering), B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture), M.Tech. (Master of Technology) and M.C.A. (Masters of Computer Application) to its students. The academic programmes are strong and a student really learn by them. With nearly equal number of labs as compared to theory classes, the scope of practical learning increases. Every department has its own computer lab alongwith a main computer centre of the college and thus it becomes easier for a student to do all the academic work (Projects, New software learning) in his own department.

Recruitment

Nearly all the big names in Software and Technical fields come to the college to recruit the students. There is always a fight to become the first company as it is taken up as a mark of honour. The placement is 100% of the eligible candidates. There are always certain candidates who are not eligible (Failed in exams etc.) but that happens everywhere.

The pay packages offered range from Rs. 1.8 Lakh p.a. to Rs. 6 Lakh p.a.

Alumni

MANIT has a strong Alumni network. MANITAA (Earlier MACTAA) stands for MANIT Alumni Association, aims at building a strong alumni force and this alumni network helps the college by referring the college to their respective companies.

Every year, a Silver Jubilee function is organized alongwith the yearly convocation to honour those candidates who passed out of the college 25 years back. It is good to see the old chaps talking about their college days.

I suggest this college to those who have a zest for technology alongwith a complete development. College has given you a lot of facilities. If you use them wisely, you will be a winner.

I might be a bit prejudiced as it is my college. Thus I require your valuable comments to correct and guide me.
