MTR or Mavalli Tiffin Room is one of the most famous and oldest restaurants in Bangalore serving authentic South Indian Bangalorean dishes . It is located on Lalbah road and very easy to miss if you do not watch out carefully. The building is very old and doesn’t stand up to its reputation.
However you must try eating here since you will hear MTR brand name everywhere you go.They do not have a branch anywhere else in the city .
However there is always a huge sizeable crowd waiting to be served and so be prepared to wait atleast an hour before your turn comes. Parking will be difficult on the road, however there is a parking lot available on the opposite side of the road.Inside the restaurant on the hallway, The walls have old black and white photographs depicting its history. Please try out rava idli, masala dosa, normal dosa, tea/coffee and if you have still space left in stomach, try out the other dishes.You will see lots of families eating out here . The taste is different and good; however the ghee will fill up your stomach soon; So recommended to eat once in a while and not everyday.
