Avoid Online purchase of any Scheme from Maxlife

I do not know how to write reviews. I will put my own experience here and leave it to you to decide if you want to still buy online schemes from Max life insurance.


I was going in for a new job 3 months back, which would involve a lot of travelling. So I thought to go for a term insurance of Rs. 1.5 Cr. After a bit of search in policybazaar.com, I choose Max life. If I remember, I chosen Maxlife looking at it’s claim rate% which was above 90%. I thought it would be a good company and after all it does a lot of push marketing. Then I provided my contact details in Policybazaar.com.


To my surprise, I got a call from Max  Life directly but she claimed to be sitting in Policybazaar.com office and working for Max Life insurance. I did not bother who she is. I just gone ahead in next 10 minutes to Log-in to their  website and pay the amount. I paid Rs. 17385 using net banking. I was told that I would have the bond documents within 15 days in my hand.


My torture starts after they took the money. First: 3 rounds of medical test.which they initially told me(before payment) that it’s just a formality only. They hardly reject any policy for health reasons.


I had to rush three time to hospitals for medical test.The hospital they had given the address, does not have TMT test and hence I had to visit another hospital for TMT. The worst part is that the referred hospital does not pay any attention to your test. I spent 3 full days for medical tests.


Finally it’s done.


Second: A round of emails from customer care, for test reports submission whereas I did not have any test reports. The hospital supposed to send the test reports directly. It’s their tie up. But I do not know why they  were asking me.


Third: They do not provide any office numbers or person’s desk phone to contact in case of any concern. It’s only the toll free number. Every time you call, a different person picks up and you need to tell the whole story again and again. Finally she/he will hang up telling you that she has logged in the problem and they will revert back. Nothing happens after that.


Fourth: Hold on! The worst is yet to come. After 2 months, I got to know that my policy got rejected because of my health problem. I am ok with their decision. Then what? I must get my money back. Right! No it’s wrong.So far I have not received my money.It’s been 1 month after my policy got rejected and 3 months I had paid money. I have exchanged almost 20 emails with many different email IDs i.e online@maxlifeinsurance.com, service@maxlifeinsurance.com, etc.But I keep getting stupid answers that the money has been credited to my account. If I ask for the reference, they say it can not shared. But they asked for my whole account statement. Now they have taken the proof of my statement which shows no transaction still they want all my bank accounts(even non-transacting accounts)  statements. Can you imagine the trauma.Now I feel I did a mistake in taking policies online. Had it been offline, I would have screwed the agent who took the money from me. Now I am left with no one to complaint physically.It’s like a story which I learnt that I will never recommend anybody to use online purchase of insurance scheme.Just avoid it.


Just avoid Maxlife insurance as I found the services and people are not sensitive to your claims. Now imagine that your nominee is facing so much of problem after your death.! The insurance is supposed to give a peace of mind but where is the TRUE experience?
