For last two days, I was stationed in Max Hospital, Vaishali as attendant to my father who underwent an operation under Urology.
Our experience this time was not very good compared to his previous operation in the same hospital under Cardiac Care Unit for stents. Father was all praise for ccu staff.
This time, we had a different experience. My brother found the doctor’s assistant rude. We were not told clearly about operation time till very last day.
During the operation father skin was burnt leading to boils. After the operation when the tape was removed, skin peeled off at places. No medical staff took it seriously and did not give ointment till we insisted. Nursing unit was understaffed. One nurse was particularly careless and confused. Cleaning and housekeeping was not up to the mark. Staff did not come even after one hour.
Each department was pointing fingers at others and shrugging responsibility. It was funny how more people were interested in feedback rather than doing their job or getting the job done.
The nurse calling bell speakers were affixed not in nurse station but near patient room. Nurses attended to bell calls after 15 minutes and till then the speaker noise kept disturbing us even in the middle of the night.
Then they have a bookish system of seeking comments on service every day. So as and when father was about to sleep, someone would knock the door and ask how do you rate us? I am shocked hoe can they be so careless and impractical.
But hospital is one place where you avoid fights, so we adjusted to every act of carelessness.
But it hurts when hospitals like max vaishali charge like star hotels and serve like dhabas.
