I was in search of something that shows me the true Mumbai city, though born and bought up in this city, we still are unaware of many things happening around us. We are most of the time strangers to our own envionment and people aroungd us.
This book has such details about each about every aspect of Mumbai, that you really want to go and visit the places. I like the chapter on the Dance Bar and Honey, Suketu Mehta has sketch it so beautifully, his language is simple and the flow is good enogh to hook the reader.
There is one chapter where he is talking about what people in Mumbai can do to earn their living, its Interesting that his intesence research is penned down so neatly. As a writer he has documented every experience of his in such a way that I felt that I was watching a movie.
Its a book that is a must read for anybody who is in love with the city or who is living in it.. The city has so many layer to it, and every new chapter that opens in the book you are learning more about the city, I thought I knew Mumbai but I was wrong, but after reading this book my interest in this city has really increased.
The last chapter on the Jain monks and his family is good enough for, the blind believers and followers of this religion. it is important to have a spiritual side in you but along with that it is also important that you use mind of your own. religious leaders and monks are there to guide you but they are Humans and self interest is the reason for the existance of human begins.
the book has lot to give and the reader has lot to learn from it.
