This year McAfee released its latest internet security suite(version 7). It includes all the McAfee products for home users(VirusScan, Firewall, Privacy Service and SpamKiller) except AntiSpyware which is already combined with VirusScan. Whats good about McAfee Internet Security Suite is that it doesn’t slow down your computer after you install it. Also Virus scanning is quick and easy. Firewall works great too. It asks your permission before allowing a program to access the internet. It also asks for permission for the same program, if its components have changed. For example when you install an updated version of a program, it asks for your permission and also notifies you about the changed components. I don’t need to use the Privacy Service so I can’t tell you much about it. But I am sure that it will work great too. SpamKiller works great too. It blocks all suspicious emails. Theres also an option to send an email to the domain from which the email was sent, requesting the administrator not to send anymore spam. For example, if a spam was sent to you from someone@cashmoneyemail.com , SpamKiller automatically sends an email to webmaster@cashmoneyemail.com requesting them not to send anymore spam. You can edit the message too and add some insults and/or threats instead of requests. LOL! Another great feature is the update process. Unlike Norton, it shows an icon on the system tray and it notifies you about the progress of the update. Also it updates all the products individually. For example, first it will download and install VirusScan updates, then firewall, then privacy service and then SpamKiller. You can install McAfee Internet Security Suite in as many computers as you want. Unlike Norton, it doesn’t ask for product keys or activation keys. Its just like a full version game. What I hate about this software is that it uses some components of Internet Explorer 6 for its User Interface, both the installer and the main program. They stopped working after I installed IE 7 Beta 2. Couldn’t even uninstall it, since the installer also has got the same interface. You will just see a blank white screen. I had to uninstall IE 7. I am sure they will fix the problem soon. Other than the above major flaw, there aren’t any other major flaws. Oh wait, you will also experience problems with Privacy Service and Spyware Doctor. And to solve that problem, you will have to uninstall one of them. There are no other flaws that I know of. So after all the software isn’t bad. It works quite well and I will use it untill I can get my hands on the full version of Norton Internet Security 2007(Yellow is one of my favorite color).
