I just recently finished writing a paper on Franchising and one of the markets I analyzed was that of McDonalds, also known as McSkat. They have one of the most costly franchise prices and one of the fastest expanding growth rates. Alone in Canada, there are over 1500 locations. I feel so bad for us Canadians.
McDonalds food is fattening to the max! Compared with other restaurants, the calories of each burger is extremely high and exceeds that of other restaurants. Most of the food is basically altered with some flavoring to make it taste good but in reality its most likely something that you don’t want to know what it is.
Prices are decent, but only on promotional days. For example in Canada, 59 cents on Wednesday for burgers, 1.59 Big Macs on Mondays, and the everyday $1.49 Big Xtra and McChicken. My favorite was the 69 cent cheeseburgers on Sunday during my break at work. Still, I knew the burgers were really something else and yet I still ate. However, I never ever forget to say after I’m done eating at Mcdonalds ’’Ohhhh, that was so disgusting’’ as I wash my face within one of their napkins.
Each location has a colorful and appealing design both inside and outside and I must commend them for that. The service .... oh dear, I had to mention the service.
I’ve been to an estimate of about 15 locations throughout North America and the service is always slow and sometimes they get my order wrong. I once had an order come to me and I hadn’t even ordered yet! What was that all about. I learned in Business class that at Mcdonalds, they had developed a strict timing schedule from unpacking the meat to cooking it to wrapping to distribution to the customer and it was something like 2 minutes and 15 seconds, yet I have waited in line sometimes for over 10 minutes waiting for an order and causing me to be late for work. Even in Drive Thru I have been told to wait at the side and the order would be brought over for me! They even have Waiting Parking Spot #1 and #2 at the location I visit most often.
No matter how much I seem to insult and tease McDonalds, they are the Kings of Fast Food compared to others.
I give them an overall B-
